From the Otopeni airport, one
can take a taxi, or the bus 100 (formelrly 783) to the city center.
The bus takes about 45 minutes to Piata Victoriei and Piata Romana,
the stations closest to the institute and Hotel Berthelot (see the map below).
There is one departure every 15-30 minutes from the airport.
Tickets can be bought from the kiosk in the bus station, and the
price is 3 lei (1 euro = 5 lei) for a ticket.
Local map
Here is a map
marked with the institute and hotel locations, and with the 100 airport bus stations.
Everything in the city center is within walking distance: for example,
Hotel Berthelot is a 5-10 minute walk from the 100 bus station in Piata Romana.
Food
For lunch we will go to J'ai bistrot, which has a pleasant outside terrace.
There are many nice places to eat around the institute and hotel Berthelot. Here are some suggestionss:
Centrale (Calea Victoriei 122, very close to hotel Berthelot): a pizza place with very good reviews.
Cafe Verona (Str Pictor Verona 13, at the intersection with Bd. Gh. Magheru): outside garden
offering good food and drinks
La mama (Str Episcopiei 9, close to Ateneu): restaurant with Romanian specialities, part of a
chain.
Caru' cu bere (Strada Stavropoleos 5, in the Old City): a Bucharest institution, very popular with turists.
Trattoria Don Vito (Str Mendeleev 1, close to hotel Berthelot): very good pizza and italian style food.
Since the weather is expected to be very hot, there are a few very good ice cream/gelato places on Calea Victoriei close to hotel Moxa, e.g.
Velocita (Calea Victoriei 122, next to Centrale).
