Name: Dan Grigore TIMOTIN
Research interests: They focus around operator theory
in Hilbert space, including connections to function theory and linear systems.
My Ph.D. thesis, sustained in 1986 under the direction of Dan Voiculescu,
investigates the conditions in which certain classes of integral operators
(called by some authors paracommutators) belong to different Schatten-von
Neumann classes. More recent papers have dealt with the geometric aspects
of dilation theory, in the line of the well known theory of Sz.-Nagy and
Foias. Currently I am mostly interested in the extension of
one-dimensional
dilation results to the multidimensional setting; this is a promising direction
of research, where much remains to be done. I am also interested in the
application of operator theoretical results to concrete problems in linear
systems.
