Bogdan Enescu, teacher at the National College B.P.Hasdeu Buzau, is one of the organizers of the national olympiad and trainer of the Romanian IMO team. He is co-founder of the new-blown Romanian Mathematics Magazine .

He won the first prize at the 20th IMO, held in Romania in 1978. The other first-prize winners of that edition are:

• Mark Kleiman (U.S.A.)
  
• Richard Ewen Borcherds (Great Britain), who received a Fields medal at the International Congress of Mathematicians Berlin 1998
  
• Victor Nistor (Romania)
  
• Uwe Weselmann (Federal Republic of Germany).
