at Eforie Nord, June 3-8, 2002. STANLEY-REISNER RINGS, SIMPLICIAL COMPLEXES, POLYTOPES

Topics:

1. Geometric properties of polytopes.
2. Homology of complexes of polytopes.
3. Combinatorial properties of polytopes.
4. Stanley-Reisner rings. Elementary properties.
5. Homological properties of Stanley-Reisner rings.
6. Betti numbers of Stanley-Reisner rings.
7. Alexander duality and free resolutions.
8. The Eisenbud-Goto inequality for Stanley-Reisner rings.
9. Proofs of the McMullen conjecture.
10. Generating functions and applications.
